While reading the various on line publications on my downtime, I happened to come across this computer named Raspberry Pi. Sure, it may be just another computer, but the title of the article really caught my eye: it is a computer for 25 dollars. Yes, a computer for 25 dollars. Not only is this device insanely inexpensive, it is also the size of a credit card. A first reaction from any average consumer may be one of disbelief, but upon further investigation, we found that it was indeed a small computer that has a lot to offer. Before I go on, it is important to mention that Raspberry Pi is simply the computer; it does not come with a monitor, keyboard or mouse.

In all retrospect, it is a very simple computer. But, what seems so fascinating about the device is that you can use a television screen, mouse, and keyboard to have a nice set up in minutes. This computer is not meant for the super intense gamers or highly advanced architect. It is a simple computer built to help others learn about computers and give the younger generation a chance to better understand programming. As with many technological tools that have sprung up in the recent years, this device is made mostly for education, which is why the price point is so low. But with so many computers shrinking in size and price, it is allowing a large amount of the population to understand and become interested in programming and computers.

If you are curious about the information of Raspberry Pi, you can find the website HERE. I have set the link to take you to the FAQ section where you can see a diagram of the computer as well as all of the basic information.

Computers are the backbone of every company. They run every operation and at times we tend to ignore the upgrades to our computer and even simple upgrades to our business. These upgrades are not meant to challenge you or your colleagues; they are to help your business run efficiently. As companies grow they tend to shelve the updates or new technologies that may be available. When this happens, businesses tend to run slower and can even compromise important information that is trusted. While reading the article, we noticed one of the most important issues is security. The staff at Pivot Networks spends a great amount of time knowing our clients’ information is safe and secure by following a set of rules that was recently posted on TechRepublic.com’s website. We would like to pass it on to our customers in order to let them know how we protect their security and keep information secure. Although these are rules both businesses and consumers should follow, it is to keep everyone safe from having their personal and private information transmitted over the internet.

When setting up our managed IT services, we not only protect your security with firewalls, spam soap and unique passwords; we take the extra precaution of helping you change your passwords at a moment’s notice if your security is breached or an employee resigns or is terminated. We are also very knowledgeable when it comes to upgrading your service including adding smartphones and any other telephone device. If you feel your network needs to be at its highest security, please contact Pivot Networks at www.pivotnetworks.com. You can read the wonderful Tech Republic article about changing your IT landscape HERE

Looking to replace your current IT professional or deciding to hire an IT professional can be a very difficult and daunting task. Deciding who is trustworthy, reliable and contains a staff with a large amount of experience are all key factors. But if you are faced with IT problems in your office you may find your computers, servers or software slowing down your business. Not only can an IT company help with your computer needs, most (if not all) will educate your business on how to use servers, software and smartphones to help your office benefit from the technology. If a problem does arise, they are available to help your company in a timely manner. Also, IT companies will sell your office the best equipment because they would never want your company to fail.

Some businesses are happy with their current equipment, but as the article below states, those companies might be running the risk of breaching security, losing support and having very slow computers. The article also brings up few points many companies do not think about. However, the fact that money is getting in the way of great service should not deter companies from hiring IT professionals. The benefits always out way the cost, especially when IT companies help businesses run as efficiently as possible. You can read the entire article HERE and find the top 10 reasons why you should change the way you look at IT in the office.

Tech companies don’t refer to the word “cloud” to describe puffy white objects in the sky. Cloud is used to explain a service that shares information, data and links all of our computers to smart phones and smart phones to servers, etc. When a beneficial product like the cloud is provided, companies typically use the service to house information and backup important files. But, Panasonic has adopted this service to control futuristic household items. While looking through various technology web pages, we found an article about Panasonic unveiling a cloud based garden. The transition from utilizing the cloud for business storage to household gardening poses the question of what will they think of next?

Panasonic has obviously branched out from televisions, personal appliances and cameras. However, allowing homeowners to test their green thumb while using technology is a very interesting avenue they have decided to take. It will obviously catch the eye of a large number of consumers, but when they lay their eyes on the hefty price tag, a large majority of gardening enthusiasts might not jump at the chance to purchase this pint sized smart greenhouse. For more information on the cloud based garden you can find the article HERE. It is a fascinating concept and one that will most likely attract a new following of high tech gardeners.

Pivot currently offers a private cloud to our clients. It is a technology that has allowed our company to catapult to the head of the competition and offer our clients the best possible service and technology.
